On October 20th 1921, the company “Stock cognac Medicinal” was established, which operates today under the name Zvečevo d.d. Požega. In 1934 renowned Swiss company Nestlé offered Stock the contract for renting the plant for production of chocolate and candies for the period of ten years. The offer was approved by the Ministry and Royal Administration in Zagreb and in 1936 Nestlé got the permit to start production of chocolate and chocolate products. In 1946 the production continued in nationalized plant. Since 1951 the plant has been operating under the name Zvečevo. In 1958 Zvečevo expanded its production facilities with diary plant, which up until then had been operating under the name Slavonka. Unprofitable and outdated production of fruit juices and flour was abandoned in the 60’s. All the efforts were aimed towards production of cocoa products, strong alcoholic drinks and milk powder. Process of reconstruction and modernization took place at the end of the 60’s and beginning of the 70’s resulting in production and employment increase. This enabled significant production increase and product range expansion with new, quality products. All of this together with the contract signed with Nestlé in 1970 made basis for successful Zvečevo’s performance on domestic and foreign markets. In 1987 Zvečevo started production of flour-based products – wafers. The company has been operating as Joint Stock Company since September 3rd 1994. Zvečevo is traditionally committed to ensuring growing quality of each of its products as this simply presents prerequisite for the future product development.
